Leather - The Perfect Staple
As we know leather has been seen all over the catwalk this year and has been present for years in fashion. Leather can be used for nearly any garment and create any theme you desire. I think leather is a true staple item for anyone’s wardrobe and is something that can last years and just be styled in various ways to suit the seasons, trends and personal tastes.
Trousers are such an easy way to add leather to your wardrobe, there are hundreds of styles and different finishes on leather/ faux leather there is something for everyone. I really like straight-leg, high-waisted leather trousers. I love to pair these with chunky knits and a longline coat in winter but also a nice top or jacket for going out for nice meals or for going out at night. I tend to lean towards matte black or cream trousers as they are so versatile and great for creating a long-lasting wardrobe.
I also think a really fun way to add leather is with leather shorts, they can be worn as every day with knee-high boots or paired with a blazer for brunch. What I think works really well with leather shorts is leather belts that create a cinched-in figure or a tailored pair of shorts with two front pleats for a more dramatic look.
If you are one for looking at trends leather tops, thick belts or corset tops have been seen a lot this year. They are a really edgy way to add leather to your wardrobe and I have seen a lot of shiny leather used for tops which I really like, there has also been leather embossed with various textures like animal print for tops which I think is a great way to add texture within your outfit.
