Collection Review - Patou
This collection by Guillaume Henry for Patou’s Spring 2023 RTW collection was something I found really enjoyable to look at. Something I often see is lots of pieces that don’t always connect however this light and fresh collection really felt like a whole story. From colours to silhouette everything was extremely cohesive. In this collection, there is a variety of garments and styles reaching out to so many people the pinks, yellows and orange contrast so well with the tan and black colours. This look perfectly balances classic and tailored pieces with modern and contemporary fashion. Personally, I feel this collection has been executed so well, the styling whilst the 31 looks were being shown was great as well as the muse in hair and makeup.
One of my favourite catwalk looks is number 10. The layering underneath the top coat creates such a lovely silhouette as well as the changeable drawstring on the outercoats waist of an adaptable silhouette. This is a monochrome look and I feel it is such a good ready-to-wear look, with the contrast of oversized sleeves to the waist details. I love how all the garments are natural and the bright pink, healed boots elongate the figure and help to balance the outfit out as minimal texture or fabric changes are visible.
Overall I really enjoyed the fresh and nearly active look that the collection gave, I thought the ruching and fabric manipulation to create textures and the silhouettes were really innovative and were a collection I feel would work so well in today’s society, a perfect RTW collection. Cutouts to add a bit of dimension through dresses and tops were a perfect balance and kept the pieces classy with trend appeal.
