Collection Review - Stella McCartney Pre-Fall 2023

Another year and the best time to start looking at future trends and what’s been on the catwalk. McCartney’s collection for pre-fall was a dream may I say, if I was to be a collection this would be the philosophy behind the designs and the physical collection itself. I am in love with every piece, her work grows on me more and more with every collection she releases and the whole modernisation of her sustainability beliefs is incredible.

The coverage written on vogue runway was a dream to read and I love the way catwalks are putting more emphasis on sustainable and ethical values, something McCartney has been doing for a long time and is finally more and more in the customer’s interests when buying new pieces. The coverage wrote ‘94% of the garments and accessories were created from responsible fibres, including the forest-friendly viscose she swears by, regenerative cotton denim, recycled yarn crafted from plastic bottles, and bags and shoes in leather substitutes including the banana peel kind’ which is never the centre of what is being talked about in runways and I am here for this new environmental talk, the fashion industry having such a big impact on the world it needs to change and this finally coming to light in large influence brands I hope it will be reflected across the board and become a norm rather than an exclusive stand out part for brands to be more environmentally and ethically considered. As this mindset has been McCartney’s for a while you can read in the coverage how natural this modern way is natural to her and is important to her as a person, not just a marketing stunt many other brands do. It really shows that no matter how much it canteen to you until your audience is ready to receive it won’t make the impact and show up the importance it truly needs. I really feel this collection is a true turning point in the fashion industry with the focus truly on what makes the collection modern and new, not just a thought-provoking concept but every detail and choice thought out to really reflect the conscious and sustainable mould.

Getting onto the collection images itself, for me, this is heaven I adore everything - the first time I saw it I was so happy and excited and the coverage only made this better. The silhouettes, fabrics, details and construction details and so well balanced. I am here for the oversized outer pieces and slushy yet sophisticated pieces throughout this collection. I feel all the colours and fabrics work really well together throughout the whole collection, everything feels balanced and looks amazing on all models. I really think the earthy, dusky colours work so well for this collection the muted tones, even in the purple blazer style in look 6 still works really well and are the perfect shade to add an accent of colours without them always being so bright and bold. I feel now in runway collections the highlighting, and accent colours are always so bold and strong so this fresh colour palette is something I love and really works well for the desired seasons. All the pieces I think anyway in this collection can be mixed and matched, worn together it’s like a whole versatile warble in one for the whole year with amazing staples with an extra bit of excitement that isn’t always seen.

Normally I pick up on looks I love and looks not so much but I really can’t and if I could I would happily have this as my warble it is just gorgeous I have shown some pictures below of the collection all taken from the vogue runway website I highly reckoned looking at the whole collection it truly is a masterpiece.
